Aerial of protest ++MUTE++ STORYLINE: Thousands of Albanians on Tuesday marched through the capital Tirana against a tourism development project linked to US President Donald Trump’s son-in-law, Jared Kushner. In their 10th consecutive day of protest, demonstrators held banners and chanted slogans against the project which environmentalists say could damage the unique ecosystem and habitat of the protected Zvernec-Narta Lagoon area. "This project, this mega project that the Prime Minister is claiming, we don't know nothing about it," said protester Berim Shehu. "So, when there is no transparency, there is no other than corruption." The government says the development would be transformational for the former communist nation as it seeks to enter the high-end tourism market and pushes for European Union membership. In an interview to the AP on Tuesday, Albanian prime-minister Edi Rama dismissed environmental objections as the result of misinformation and said the development was turning Albania from a country once ignored by investors into one “where the big capital wants to come and the big investors want to come." Rama is vowing to press ahead. But thousands of demonstrators have joined daily protests outside the prime minister's office in the capital, Tirana — including on Tuesday — against the planned development that includes hotels, apartments, villas and a marina for yachts. Demonstrators have pledged to continue protesting in the coming days and are demanding the resignation of Rama.
