These Are the Toughest Days of My Life | CDT Day 11-13

These were the toughest days of my whole Continental Divide Trail thru-hike, and life! Alone in the Montana wilderness, I ran out of water on an exposed ridge, got driven off it by a storm, and ended up sheltering in a yurt in the middle of nowhere. If it adds something to your day, you can superpower me with a trail snack here: https://buymeacoffee.com/the.ambassador After walking out of the Bob Marshall Wilderness and into the Scapegoat Wilderness, I pushed nearly 40 miles over two brutal, hot, low-motivation days toward the road. I miscalculated my water badly, got caught in a thunderstorm and then hail, and stumbled onto that yurt right when I needed it. On day 13 I finally hitched into the town of Lincoln, ate a well-deserved burger, and reunited with a friend from the trail. This is my CDT 2026 thru-hike, the third and final trail of my Triple Crown after the Appalachian Trail and the Pacific Crest Trail. Over the next few months I'll hike more than 3,000 miles (5,000 km) from Canada to Mexico through Montana, Idaho, Wyoming, Colorado, and New Mexico, solo.
