Blind Test // 80s Acid House Classics - Episode 24 (Electronic Beats TV)

For this new instalment of Electronic Beats much beloved Blind Test series, we step into the world of 80’s Acid House Classics and welcome an all-star cast of Acid aficionados. Firstly, one of the founding fathers of House Music itself, Marshall Jefferson. Fellow Chicagoan’s Tyree and K-Alexi Shelby also join the line-up, two more pioneering producers whose early works featured on the likes of D.J. International Records, Dance Mania and many other labels respectively. The UK’s Luke Vibert steps in to test his knowledge too, owner of the I Love Acid imprint alongside Posthuman and recording artist for the likes of Planet Mu, Ninja Tune, Warp and Hypercolour under his numerous aliases. Additionally, Oliver Bondzio, one half of German Acid Techno duo Hardfloor, brings his knowledge to the table and lastly to complete the participants we welcome Ceephax Acid Crew, another UK Acid stalwart, younger brother of Squarepusher and artist on labels such as DMX Krew’s Breakin’, Lo Recordings and Planet Mu. Please note that this video is not filmed in real time. It’s edited to create some tension so that you in front of the screen can guess as well. It doesn’t say anything about how fast the participants recognised the track etc. All contestants receive one point for both artist and title correct, but only half a point if they can only guess the artist or the title.
