Kleftiko Milos Greece | The myth of hidden trasure

At the southwestern tip of Milos there is a magnificent beach called Kleftiko, also known as "Thalassina Meteora". Kleftiko is a set of white volcanic rocks, created by the waves of the sea and the wind, surrounded by the turquoise waters of the Aegean. It is the trademark of Milos. The name came from the myth of pirates. According to mythology, this place was used both as a shelter and as a base for pirates, since the rocks and small coves protected pirate ships and pirates from the strong winds of the Aegean and from enemies. To the magic of the landscape, is added the legend of the hidden treasure of the pirates, in a cave near the beach. Huge white rocks emerge into the sea, creating three consecutive bays. Some are cut off from the land, others rest in the clear blue waters forming caves and pits. The clarity of the water gives you the feeling that you are swimming in the air. The caves, a small beach and the underwater life compose a wonderful scenery that we could say is a wonder of nature throughout the Mediterranean.
