Masked Menace Torments Angelic Singer - Amira Willhagen & Ruhan du Toit -Phantom of the Opera

Welcome to the kick off for: Phantom Week! Amira Willighagen & Ruhan du Toit perform "The Phantom of the Opera" live at Lexus Pop Classics 2023. I will have to check out more of the South African music scene (besides Amira). Americans may not know who Amira is, but the rest of the world certainly does. Over 3.5 Billion YouTube views. Born 2004. Taught herself to sing classical & opera when aged just 6-9 years, then won Holland's Got Talent at 9 years old with a record 55% of the votes. She is the youngest ever winner of HGT. She has sung in 22 countries on 5 continents to millions and has sung with dozens of other singers, choirs and orchestras. She is now 22 and is classified as a rare "Dramatic Coloratura Lyric Soprano" [ie, she can sing ANY female voice level] - only 2-3% of sopranos ever reach this level! Current range=C3-F#6 - 3.6 octaves. She sings in ten different genres. Amira runs her very own children's charity, Gelukskinders, that builds playparks in S.African schools & townships for deprived kids. Over 33 have been built to date. Amira set this up when 10 yrs old and donates fully half of her revenue to it. Ruhan du Toit, best-known for his jaw dropping rendition of the popular Simon & Garfunkel hit, The Sound of Silence, definitely needs no introduction in music circles. His unique four octave vocal range and natural talent behind the guitar and various other musical instruments, have not only opened doors for him in the past, but have also cemented his place in the hearts and ears of South African and International music lovers. The musician who grew up in Port-Elizabeth and now lives in Pretoria, has been working in the entertainment industry since 1993 and was able to sing before he could walk or talk. He released his first solo album, Die Hemel Is (1994), at the age of eleven and that was only the beginning of this gifted musician’s musical journey.
