Checking Engine Block Levelness - Head Gasket Replacement

In this video, we explain and show the importance of checking your block deck for levelness. There's no point in putting a head back on the engine if the block is warped - it won't seal right and could cause damage to the head. Do this check after all the old head gasket material has been removed for an accurate reading. Check the heads for warpage in the same way, and look at the tolerance for yours specifically, since heads usually vary much more than block decks. Block deck levelness is usually .003 (3 thousanths) on V6 motors, .004 on V8's, and .006 on straight 6's, however check the manual for your engine specifically. As always, thanks for watching!
