चीन के दक्षिण-पश्चिमी हिस्से में स्थित चोंगकिंग नगर पालिका में शुक्रवार को भीषण भूस्खलन देखने को मिला। इसकी चपेट में आने से 8 लोगों की मौत हो गई, जबकि 34 लोग अब भी लापता हैं। स्थानीय समयानुसार सुबह करीब 9:10 बजे हुए इस हादसे में पहाड़ी का बड़ा हिस्सा अचानक ढह गया, जिससे चट्टानें और मलबा नीचे स्थित रिहायशी व व्यावसायिक इलाके पर आ गिरा। कई मकान पूरी तरह मलबे में दब गए और सड़कें भी अवरुद्ध हो गईं। हादसे के तुरंत बाद स्थानीय प्रशासन ने बड़े पैमाने पर राहत व बचाव अभियान शुरू किया। 800 से अधिक बचावकर्मियों,दमकलकर्मियों और आपदा विशेषज्ञों को मौके पर तैनात किया गया। A massive landslide struck Chongqing Municipality in southwestern China on Friday, killing eight people and leaving 34 missing. The accident, which occurred at around 9:10 a.m. local time, caused a large portion of a hillside to collapse, sending rocks and debris crashing onto residential and commercial areas below. Several houses were completely buried, and roads were blocked.
