learn how to change the note in your overtones by Susana Calvo
In this video you will learn how to change note of your overtones. Its important that you learn to sustain a fundamental note clearly and without strain to your voice first from the chest register using resonance. Start by singing the OM sound and then without stopping say the word 'YOU' if you do this slow enough you will notice where there placement of your tongue is and then as you move through the U sound and finish it off, you will notice that the tongue opening is at its biggest at the end creating the lowest of the pitch in the overtone scale. The beginning of the 'you' word will be the highest pitch. Be mindful of your tongue placement and remember that you are not creating the overtone sound with your voice. You are sustaining the fundamental sound so the air and resonance and vibration in your mouth cavity get trapped enough in the formation that your tongue is forming, so the overtones are filtered and you can hear them clearly. To make the overtones come through louder is a matter of consistence training so be patient with yourself and just have fun in the learning process and how every day you will discover something new and a slight improvement. Overtone singing can be very beneficial to your health as you are learning control of breath and being mindful of every breath. Its a form of meditation as well as just being super fun to do.
