The United States, China, Brazil, Germany, the United Kingdom, India, Japan, Mexico, Spain, South Korea and other countries compete by one metric: cumulative number of 30,000+ capacity stadiums by country. This bar chart race follows major stadium construction from 1900 to 2026, showing how mass sports, football, baseball, cricket, Olympics, World Cups and mega-events reshaped the global stadium map. The United States dominates through college football, baseball, NFL venues, bowl stadiums and huge multi-sport arenas built across the country. China rises fast in the modern era through Olympic infrastructure, National Games venues and large city mega-stadium projects. Brazil grows through football culture, Maracanã-era icons and World Cup rebuilds, while Germany, the United Kingdom, Spain, France, Italy and Türkiye show the depth of European football stadium infrastructure. India climbs through cricket, football and multi-sport stadiums, while Japan and South Korea rise through Olympic and 2002 World Cup buildouts. Mexico, Argentina, Russia, Australia, Saudi Arabia and South Africa also show how big events and national sports cultures shaped stadium construction.
