Can you hear the world with just one tube? 📻 We analyze the Regenerative Receiver with the 6AK5! There's hardly been a video this week due to exhaustion, but tinkering got the better of me. I started playing around in the workshop with some old tubes and ended up rescuing and improving a circuit that's pure magic from the radio of yesteryear: the regenerative receiver. In this video, we'll break down the operation of a miniature pentode, the 6AK5, and how to take advantage of its grids to achieve incredible sensitivity. We'll cover everything from the mathematical calculations for adapting the 6.3V filaments to a 12V source to the technical analysis of cathode-coupled positive feedback (Hartley type). In this video, you'll learn: ✅ How to calculate the filament drop resistance ($$R = V/I$$). ✅ The operation of the "tank circuit" and frequency selection. ✅ The secret to the "sweet spot" in receiver oscillation. ✅ How to build a homemade shunt coil on PVC. This is an ideal project for valve enthusiasts, those who enjoy tinkering with circuits, and technical amateur radio enthusiasts. Ceramic capacitors: 30pF, 100pF, and 10nF. Resistors: 1MΩ and 32Ω (2W). 10KΩ potentiometer. 220V to 12V transformer (300mA).
