Siren Test | Federal Signal Equinox - Full Attack | Kingstown, NC | 3/2/24

Well folks, IT FINALLY HAPPENED! For this first Saturday of the month, I decided to go to the very south part of North Carolina to record one of Cleveland county’s sirens. I’ve been planning this trip for SO LONG! And as you can see, IT WORKED OUT! So for this first Saturday of the month, I chose the Equinox, because I believe this is the only Equinox in North Carolina, and I wanted to record my first rotational chopper siren. So four hour drive later, YES four hours (Thanks Dad), we arrive in Kingstown and wait for the announcement which I never expected them to do. Well, they did it. I mean you got to have some way of notifying the department of what is happening. After all the tones do get sent from the main dispatch frequency. Fun fact, Cleveland county actually moved to a Project 25 Phase I system. I’m not sure if they are still on the VIPER (Voice Interoperability Plan for Emergency Responders) system, which is also on Phase 1, since they transitioned to their own Phase I system. Anyways, yes as you saw, the siren did go off. I actually didn’t expect it to go off since it was raining when I left my house, but instantly cleared up as we got to North Carolina.
