33 PLANTAS de SOL e PRAIA

Here's the challenge: list plants that love sun and, to top it off, withstand the coastal climate. Heat, wind, salt spray, scorching sun almost year-round. After all, Brazil is a country with an immense coastline, endless sand and sea. Our gardener Carol Costa took on the challenge and created a list of 33 species that love the beach. The help in ranking the plants couldn't have been more specialized: the folks at Atmosphera Plantas e Paisagismo, the largest producer of ornamental plants in northeastern Brazil, confirmed that all the species on the list grow happily on Brazilian beaches. To make things easier, our plant-loving expert separated the species into groups and started with the ground cover plants. These are the smaller ones that serve as ground cover and are resilient despite their size. 1. Variegated St. Charles grass (Axonopus compressus variegatum) 2. Acalypha reptans (Cat's tail) 3.
