HINCHINBROOK ISLAND | The Thorsborne Trail & Mount Bowen

One of the best multi-day hikes in Australia is on Hinchinbrook Island. The primary route for most is the Thorsborne Trail, a relatively manageable 4-day trek featuring picturesque spots such as Nina Peak, Zoe Bay, Zoe Falls, and Mulligan Falls. Opting for an additional 2 days of exploration, Derek, Stu, and I ventured beyond the usual path to conquer the island's tallest peak; Mount Bowen. Soaring at 1121m, ascending Bowen requires approximately 10 hours just to reach the summit. This expedition proved to be the most physically demanding challenge I have ever faced. While we were aware of the anticipated difficulty, the climb was more demanding than we had anticipated. This is our story of our 6-day trek on Hinchinbrook Island!
