Puchero de La Florida 2026 y Feria del Ganado | Tradición y Gastronomía en La Orotava, Tenerife

🇮🇨 In January, we traveled to the La Florida neighborhood in La Orotava to experience one of Tenerife's most beloved traditions firsthand: the Puchero de La Florida. More than five thousand people gather each year to enjoy this giant stew, prepared with care and dedication by the town's residents. Along with the Livestock Fair, the open-air mass, and the blessing of the animals, this day combines gastronomy, culture, and community in a unique atmosphere. We met locals from La Orotava, people from other parts of Tenerife and the Canary Islands, and many tourists, all drawn by the grandeur and beauty of this event, which grows in popularity every year. We enjoyed the music of the groups Bentahod and El Timplillo, traditional dances, and above all, the warmth and friendliness of the townspeople. More than fifty years later, this festival, declared of Regional Tourist Interest, remains a symbol of Canarian identity, where gastronomy, countryside, and community come together to keep traditions alive.
