Beginner's Guide: Rat Race Coast to Coast Challenge, Scotland

Scotland—home to rugged landscapes, breathtaking views, and one of the most epic one-day adventure challenges: the Rat Race Coast to Coast. It includes a 7-mile run, a 78-mile cycle followed by a 14-mile run, and, lastly, a 1-mile kayak over the finish line—not to mention over 10,000 ft of vertical ascent. Unfortunately, we didn't get to do the kayak, as the weather had other plans. This meant a diversion to Kinlochleven and a slightly longer run to finish over the 100-mile mark. If you're gearing up for your first crack at this incredible 100+ mile journey from the North Coast to the West, you’re in the right place. I noticed many great videos covering this event, but none offer advice. I'm a novice at this kind of thing, but having completed the event in one day and having learned a great deal about the event and the kit needed, I thought it could help others. Here, I cover the key topics I feel are required to support. I may do some other videos reviewing some gear and providing some training tips for this kind of thing, as I think my two friends (Stef & Clint) and I put in enough hard yards over the year to get us over the line and could share some of what we learned! Having listened to myself back, I realise that people may not understand my Scottish accent! So, if you can't and have questions, please ask away in the comments below, and I'll do my best to answer.
