Exploring WWII Gun Pits & Rifle Range Ridge | White Rock SEQ

Can the Bonnell 775 MX handle the most overgrown, ridiculous terrain in South East Queensland? In this video, I’m taking the Bonnell 775 MX deep into White Rock Conservation Park to tackle the legendary Gun Pit Ridge and Rifle Range Ridge. These trails are rarely used, heavily overgrown with Lantana, and filled with Golden Orb Weaver spiders—the ultimate survival test for any eBike. We’re hunting for the "Gun Pits"—remnants of WWII and Vietnam-era military training grounds hidden in the scrub. Along the way, I push the Bonnell 775 MX to its absolute limits, testing the suspension, brakes, and battery life on 18km of chunky, sandy, and steep terrain. In this episode: Bonnell 775 MX Extreme Test: How the bike handles "ridiculous" single track and fire trails. WWII History: Exploring the dugout gun pits and embankments at Gun Pit Lookout. The Struggle: Dealing with Lantana "nipple whips," endless spider webs, and 17% battery anxiety. Rifle Range Ridge: A grueling trek toward the Ripley Road/Undullah trail head. If you’re looking for a real-world capability test of the Bonnell 775 MX or want to see the hidden side of the White Rock trails near Ipswich, this is the ride for you. 00:00 - Adventure highlights and teasers 01:14 - Mission overview: Gun Pit Ridge Lookout 02:12 - Hiking gear and bike setup 02:40 - History of the training grounds 03:46 - Starting the ride from White Rock 04:37 - Passing White Rock formation 06:36 - Gun Pit Ridge Trail entry 13:44 - Gun Pit Ridge Lookout and Brisbane views 17:15 - Finding soldier rock covers 22:34 - Ridge Bike Trail (RBT) exploration 28:01 - Pushing through thick Lantana 31:07 - Finding the Rifle Range Ridge (RVT) 33:28 - Battling overgrown paths and webs 42:33 - "Live Firing" danger sign 45:55 - Discovering the Stewartdale lagoon 50:28 - Reaching the Ripley Road trailhead 52:25 - The difficult return leg 57:06 - Final battery check and ride wrap-up FOR BUSINESS INQUIRIES & COLLABORATIONS: Send me an email: [email protected] WANT TO SUPPORT ME?
