His greatest gift is as a live performer, a master at unleasing the ‘euskeuta’, an ecstatic shivering of the shoulders than can spread like an epidemic across Ethiopian dance floors”... The first UK live show by this astonishing selection of Ethiopian soul and funk artists, whose compilation CD The Very Best of Etiopiques (Manteca) was one of the world music sensations of 2007. Mahmoud Ahmed is backed by the french Badume’s Band serving up sizzling big band funk, and soul work-outs. A unique east African take on jazz, funk and big band sounds.
