I experienced being a yamabushi apprentice for just one day ⛰️✨ This time, I visited the "Sho-no-Iwaya Exploration Event" hosted by Kizo-in Temple in Yoshino. "Sho-no-Iwaya" is a special "iwaya" located in Kamikitayama Village, Nara Prefecture, and is the 62nd stop on the Omine training pilgrimage. Although the day of our hike was a drizzling rain, listening to the stories of the kind yamabushi (mountain ascetics) made it a truly memorable mini-climb. A place where Japanese "prayer" lives on. It was a special day experiencing the deep culture of Yoshino.
