Netztopologien verstehen | #Netzwerktechnik
Contents 📚 A network is the connection of at least two computers or other electronic devices. The goal of a network is to exchange data between network participants and use shared resources such as storage space, programs, or network printers. The connection between the individual devices can be wired or wireless via a radio link. Mixed forms are of course possible, and you've probably encountered them in your home network before, for example, if you surf the internet with your computer via a LAN cable and with your smartphone via Wi-Fi. In the definition of a network, you saw that a network only exists when there are at least two participants... after all, chatting only with yourself is pretty boring. The simplest form of a network is the connection of two computers. In the digital age, however, this is the exception. Nowadays, dozens, hundreds, sometimes even several thousand devices are connected in a network. It should be clear from a security perspective that you can't simply have every device communicate with another device in some way. For this reason, larger networks require an IT infrastructure. The word STRUCTURE already indicates that a network must be planned before its actual "implementation." A key pillar of this planning is the selection of a suitable network topology. This refers to the way in which the devices in a network are connected and communicate with each other. A distinction is made between physical and logical topology: The physical topology refers to the physical cabling in the network. The logical topology, on the other hand, describes the data flow between the network devices. Mathematically speaking, a network topology is a graph. The network devices are the nodes, and the connections between the devices are the edges. Over time, certain network topologies have emerged, which we will discuss in this video. We will discuss the structure, the cabling effort, and the advantages and disadvantages.
