I Followed a Road Built Through Arizona's TOUGHEST Terrain...But Something Doesn't add Up

Attempting to Drive my Jeep along the Edge of a Rugged 2000ft drop off in Payson Arizona Known as Rim Road on the Mogollon Rim. High above the desert floor, I followed a remote dirt road along the edge of the Mogollon Rim—also known as Forest Road 300—and what started as a simple scenic drive quickly turned into something I wasn’t expecting. With my drone in the air, I began scanning the cliffs, canyons, and hidden edges of this massive natural boundary… revealing just how dramatic—and unexplored—this landscape really is. But this road isn’t just about the views. Along the way, I uncover the history behind Rim Road and its connection to the historic General Crook Trail… a rugged military route carved through some of the most unforgiving terrain in Arizona. And as the miles go on, it becomes clear that this place is more than just a road—it’s the edge of something much bigger… the Colorado Plateau. Throughout the drive, I stop at different points along the rim to explore its formations, colors, and sheer drop-offs… each one more surreal than the last. At one point, I hike up a narrow ridge that feels eerily similar to Angels Landing… with steep exposure on both sides and views that don’t seem real.
