Elvis Presley’s Birthplace & Hometown Tour of Tupelo Mississippi! Summer ’24 #elvispresley

Elvis Presley was born on January 8th, 1935 in Tupelo, Mississippi, 90 years ago as of this coming January. Join this Mother-Daughter team as we look back at the history of the King of rock & roll and tour the hometown of the one and only legend, Elvis Presley. Before Sun Records, before Graceland & before Priscilla there was a small-town boy from Mississippi with some dirty overalls, a guitar, and a promise he made to his parents that one day he would buy them a house. We are in Tupelo, Mississippi today where it all started at a small hardware store and a birthday gift he didn’t even know he wanted. We are going to see the house he was born in—a shotgun-style home with 2 rooms built by hand by his father Vernon Presley & Uncle. We will also walk over to his Church, First Assemblys of God where he sang as a child, and take a look around. We will see the statue titled:” Elvis age 13” created by a Greensboro sculptor Michiel Van der. And we will see the water feature named “Fountain of Life”. It features Thirteen upper waterspouts representing the years Elvis lived in Tupelo and 29 lower spouts symbolizing Elvis' life in Memphis. We will see the chapel that was dedicated to Elvis in 1979, Elvis had envisioned that a place of meditation be built and his friend Janelle McComb was able to bring it to life with help from fans. We will then head over to the state named “Homecoming” at the Tupelo Fairpark. The Mississippi/Alabama old fairgrounds. Stop by his Elementary school Lawhorn and peak at the hardware store where he got his first guitar.
