WW2 Bomber Wreck & Wild Camp — Brecon Beacons (Wellington MF509)
A hike over Bannau Brycheiniog (Brecon Beacons) taking in a WW2 bomber wreck, a wildcamp on the mountain, and the walk out next morning. On 20th November 1944, Wellington MF509 iced up and lost power climbing over these hills. It crashed at Carreg Goch, killing all six crew — a Royal Canadian Air Force crew, the youngest just twenty. The wreckage is still scattered across the hillside. 📍 Carreg Goch, Bannau Brycheiniog, Wales Grid Ref: SN 8161 1691 Lat & Long 51.83827, -3.71974 Please treat sites like this like a war grave: photos only, leave everything as you find it.
