Nobody Cleans These 4 Sensors: Fix Rough Idle, Stalling, Jerking & Poor Gas Mileage
Is your car shaking at idle, stalling at a stop, jerking when accelerating, or suddenly getting poor gas mileage? Before you replace expensive parts, the real problem may be dirty sensors causing rough idle, bad fuel economy, hesitation, RPM bouncing, and check engine light problems. In this video, I’ll show you four overlooked parts that can make your engine run rough: the MAF sensor, MAP sensor, idle air control valve, and upstream O2 sensor. A dirty MAF sensor can cause hesitation, weak acceleration, engine running lean symptoms, and codes like P0171 lean code or P0174 lean code. That is why MAF sensor cleaning is one of the first things to check when your car runs rough but has no power, or when you are trying to fix a MAF sensor P0171 problem without guessing. You will also learn dirty MAP sensor symptoms and how to clean a MAP sensor safely. A clogged MAP sensor can cause MAP sensor rough idle, MAP sensor stalling, hard starting, poor acceleration, and an engine that stalls when coming to a stop. If your car idles rough after warm up, stalls when AC is on, or feels like it is choking at low speed, the MAP sensor and intake area are worth checking. We also look at IAC valve cleaning and dirty idle air control valve symptoms. A dirty idle air control valve can make the car RPM go up and down at idle, cause RPM bouncing at idle, make the engine stall when shifting into Drive, or create a rough idle fix situation that many people mistake for transmission trouble. If your car feels like transmission is slipping, car jerks when shifting into drive, or the idle air control valve is stuck, checking the IAC valve and dirty throttle body symptoms can save you from replacing the wrong parts. The video also explains upstream O2 sensor symptoms and how a bad O2 sensor can affect poor gas mileage. A lazy oxygen sensor or air fuel mixture sensor symptoms can make the engine computer adjust fuel incorrectly, causing bad gas mileage, rich or lean running, fuel trim problems, and poor O2 sensor fuel economy. But not every O2 sensor code means the sensor itself is bad, so I’ll explain what to check before replacing it. Before buying a fuel pump, catalytic converter, ignition coils, spark plugs, injectors, throttle body, or transmission parts, clean sensors before replacing parts and check the simple things first. Sometimes the car is not dying. Sometimes dirty sensors are fooling the engine computer and making it waste fuel, shake, stall, jerk, and run badly.
