Hi-Viz Jacket Buzzer
In this video I demonstrate one of my own buzzer patterns that was born out of curiosity more than anything else. Chartreuse has always been a good trigger colour for Trout, so why not tie the whole fly in that colour. The colouration of this fly is nowhere near natural but I wanted to try it and see if it would elicit a response from the fish. I've fished several versions of it. A weighted one, the one in this video and the Foam Winged Emerger version and all have caught fish, sometimes preferentially to Black or other natural coloured ones. Therefore I have chosen to include it on the channel and give it a name, the Hi-Viz Jacket Buzzer. This pattern is a hybrid of a natural pattern and an attractor pattern and it fits into a particular niche when fishing for stocked Rainbow Trout. When trout are first stocked, the first week or two, they will attack any attractor pattern with aggression, but the survivors of this initial couple of weeks, will start to transition to natural foods. It is during this transition that this fly will work best, from my belief and experience. Another variation of this fly I tie is in hot or fluorescent orange and this also works well, especially in this horrible heatwave we are having as I write. During the filming of this video, daytime temperatures were 36'C and I had to wait for the cooler night time and for the sweat to not run into my eyes to film this video.
