L'enfant, ce petit être philosophique | Alexandra Colmar | TEDxGeneva
Today more than ever, we are short on time. If something happens, good or bad, how can we cope? Alexandra's advice is to pause and observe. For her, as for most parents, one of the most significant events was the birth of her children. Lacking an instruction manual, she thought she could navigate any situation based on her experience. Her challenge was to succeed as a mother, a professional, and a woman. Experiencing increasing fatigue and loneliness, she finally let go. It was at this point that she began researching child development. By observing them and helping them become independent, the children became allies rather than a burden. In her talk, Alexandra shares the treasures she discovered when she took the time to better understand children's needs, and the fruits of her career change to become a Montessori educator. Born in Vienna, Alexandra A. Colmar grew up in Athens, studied in Paris, and then in Switzerland. She isn't afraid of change. She thrives on challenges that allow her to discover herself. The birth of her daughters revealed her passion for children. In 2013, she began training as a Montessori educator for children aged 3 to 6. She didn't hesitate to leave her career as an interior designer to dedicate herself to children's needs, whether in classrooms or at home. Since then, she has continuously pursued further training in child development, from newborns to adolescents—in short, anything that can help her better understand human beings. More than offering activities to children, Alexandra prefers to step back and observe them. It is from this vantage point that she can fully utilize her creativity to support their developmental needs. This talk was given at a TEDx event using the TED conference format but independently organized by a local community. Learn more at https://www.ted.com/tedx
