1944 Army Gear Tested: How Bad Was It Really?

The Eager Beaver Crew approached this project with a simple question: what was it like for our forefathers to hike during the Second World War? Well, naturally the best way to learn is to do it yourself. We assembled a near full kit of equipment that United States Army Soldiers would have worn in the European Theatre in 1944. We tested what the average army infantry men would have utilized in WW2 and compared that to modern equipment! This hike took place at Paris Mountain State Park in Greenville, South Carolina, and the 8-mile perimeter trail was the perfect route to challenge this equipment from 1944 across creeks and cliff side! We highly suggest that you never utilize these products. They are only discussed within this video, because of the wide spread use and military issuing of tobacco products during the Second World War. 3) Thank you to all those who made this video possible! We greatly appreciate those who donated their time, expertise, knowledge, and equipment to make this outfit as accurate as possible for our given mission. 4) It should be fairly obvious that a military packing system from World War Two would not be nearly as effective as a system from the Modern Era. That noted, in no way do we intend to disrespect our forefathers who utilized this equipment. Further, we thank them and many others for their service to the United States of America and the World. Although we criticize certain aspects of the equipment, we have nothing respect for those who used this kit in the past. It was a privilege to experience some of what these men and women went through and the kit that they utilized during the Second World War. #wwii #ww2 #worldwar2 #history #reenactor #reenactment #militaryhistory #military #militaryhistory #historyfacts #facts #hike #hiking #callofduty #cod #battlefield #todayilearned #dailyfacts #historyfacts #army #navy #coastguard #airforce #nationalforest #nationalpark #veteran #nationalguard #marines #spaceforce #backpacking #scparks
