Whatever the case, Miguel—the protagonist of the play The Truth, by Florian Zeller, starring Eduardo Santamarina—learns the lesson of a lifetime, and the audience gets a ton of laughs with this comedy of intrigues presented at the Lince Theater of the Autonomous University of the West. As part of the 2018 Fall Season of the Sociedad Artística Sinaloense and the Instituto Sinaloense de Cultura, the play directed by Benjamín Cann also starred Mayrín Villanueva (Alicia), Rodrigo Murray (Pablo), and Gabriela Zas (Laura). After ten years of marriage, Alicia and Miguel are troubled by a secret: Miguel is having an affair with Laura, Pablo's wife, who, to top it all off, is his best friend. To cope with the situation, he lies shamelessly at the slightest provocation, and the worst part is that one lie leads to another and another to cover up the gaps that a half-truth always leaves exposed. Everything is more or less going well until the pair of lovers decide to spend a day out of town, pretending to their partners that they're away for other reasons. Thus, with a phone call, Pablo suspects that Laura isn't having any fun with her aunt, and even more so, that she's cheating on him. Well, those are just appearances, because from that moment on, a somewhat complicated web unravels that will involve all four characters, ultimately making Miguel, the inveterate liar, the most inexperienced liar, and even an innocent little dove. The fact is that in the end, no one will come out unscathed. Throughout the work, there are constant moments of laughter, and the lessons are numerous in a pleasant and entertaining story.
