KWRC RallyCross 2026 Race 2, Lap 3, BRAKE FAILURE!!!

Rear left brake caliper mounting plate detached from the knuckle. It spun round the rotor and can be heard slamming into the bottom of the strut. When I started to apply the brakes for the following corner at the end of the back straight, that left rear wheel locked up prematurely and sent the car uncharacteristically sideways. On later inspection, it turned out a pervious mechanic had removed the bolts that fix the mounting plate to the knuckle, presumably when attempting to remove the bearing which appears to have been replaced, and never reinstalled the hardware after giving up on removing the mounting plate. Let me repeat that. We have been driving and racing this car this entire time with the left rear brake assembly affixed to the car with nothing but rust, seizing it in place. It only broke free this day because it was our first outing after having done a solid full refresh on our brakes. People really need to stop underselling the power of Canadian Loctite.
