Classical Mechanics - Rigid Body Mechanics : Body and Space Reference Systems
In this second video on basic fundamentals of mechanics of rigid body, two reference frames, called Body Refrence Frame and Space Reference Frame have been explained. A coordinate system fixed in the rigid body is called body reference system and the coordinate system fixed in space is called space coordinate system. You can find the discussion on finding the coordinates of a point in one frame if these are known in another frame. This can be furnished via direction cosines of the coordinate axes of one reference frame relative to the coordinate axes of another frame. Finally you will see that the most commonly used three generalized coordinates are the three Euler’s Angles.
