Romantic memories that won't subside have been the basis for innumerable songs, but a melody and a voice and an attitude are essential to have any one of them stick. When Thomas Day sings the title track from last fall's 'Love Me For Another Day' album, those three elements - plus the extra attraction of a radiant piano riff being repeated in a dreamy manner - unite. Yep, it's a song that rises above and stays in your head for a spell. The same kind of thing happens with "It's Not My Job Anymore," Day's can't-let-go breakup song that clocked wildfire streams last summer. "You don't stop loving someone just because it's over," he whispers before wailing his anguish in the refrain. The Nashville native, who started writing songs when he was 11, was recently asked to describe his music in three words. "Angsty, powerful, and sad," was the answer. The 21-year-old wanted to be a therapist for a bit, and has said that he's pleased if any healing comes to those who absorb the emotional impact of his tunes. "Softly" and "Overplayed" and "The New Me" introduced him in 2021, and he's gained articulation every step along the way. Meaning 2022's "Wildflower," "VICIOUS," and "MASOCHIST" delivered even more clout. Last year he took off on his first headlining tour, and made a wealth of new fans. He dropped into our studio to share a bit of that angst with "Stranger" and "Love Me For Another Day."
