Signs of pests on Orchids

Pests are an unwanted, but pretty common problem in the orchid hobby. here is a presentation of the pests I encountered, these are not all possible pests though, but I do believe they are among the most common of them all. ▼▼▼More info bellow!▼▼▼ Spider mites, whether false spider mites or two spotted mites, are in my opinion the hardest to eradicate, especially the false ones. They are so small that they cannot be detected with your bare eye. One will usually see the damage, but it would mean it's a bit too late already. Possible treatments to consider miticides or pesticides designed to work on mites, non toxic solutions such as insecticidal spray, and horticultural oils and just a proper hygiene as much as possible. here are some useful articles http://www.aos.org/orchids/orchid-pes... http://www.aos.org/orchids/orchid-pes... Mealy bugs are fluffy white insects that can easily be seen with the naked eye. They can crawl from one plant to another pretty fast, so quarantine any infected orchids or plants. They are so sensitive to soaps that a home made soapy solution works like a charm. ofcourse you can also use insecticidal sprays with success, no need for insecticides. But now I simply spray hydrogen peroxide 3% on every new orchid when I repot.
