The French innovated by placing the engines in the tail of the plane, creating the first successful commercial jet in the world. The Sud Aviation SE-210 Caravelle came after the de Havilland Comet, but this French plane managed to enter operation without any problems and served as inspiration for competitors to copy it. In Brazil, it was the first commercial jet to enter into operation, by VARIG.
