Maya vs Juno-6 Shootout
In this video, I'm comparing Maya and Juno-6 side by side to check how close both of the sound. Get your copy: https://isotonikstudios.com/maya-vs-j... Note from Nik: 1. I've chosen this format of comparison cause I believe it's closer to a real life experience and is just honest to the viewer. I've seen a few videos where the sound is there, but there's barely any resemblance between fader positions, so if you try to replicate the sound, it'll become a challenge for artist. In case of Maya, I believe there's just as much difference between Maya and Juno as between two different Junos. 2. I've cut out a bunch of footage with me rambling, so here's the gist. Matching faders is challenging cause on Juno-6 they are 40+ years old and moving the faders even a 0.5 mm may change the sound quite dramatically. It's quite tedious process and not entertaining at all, but with enough time perfect sonic match can be achieved quite comfortably. 3. While recording, I run the sound from my speakers at reduced levels to avoid speaker bleed into the mic on the table and only while editing I've noticed noise mixing in and fader on Maya is half-way up while it's fully off on Juno. This is quite obvious while playing the Sub oscillator — that's why it sounds so noisy. Slightly noisier chorus on Maya is also because of this. In all other instances the levels of oscillators almost completely mask the noise, so I've decided against reshooting this. Just imagine in your head there's no noise oscillator present. If you guys feel this is a significant failure of this shootout and really makes the comparison void, I'll record a new one. I think it would be fun to make a whole track with both and compare the sound, but my Juno doesn't have MIDI, so it'd quite a bit of challenge. Feel free to suggest better comparisons I can do, I'd love to hear your thoughts. ⏱️ Timestamps: 0:00 - Intro 0:13 - Maya Init preset vs Juno Side-by-Side 1:00 - Chorus II 1:26 - Chorus Off 2:04 - PWM + Saw 2:30 - PWM + LFO 3:00 - PWM + Envelope 3:54 - PWM + Saw + Chorus I + II 4:50 - Filter Resonance 5:16 - Filter Self-oscillation 6:55 - All Oscillators Together 7:20 - Solo Sub 7:40 - High-Pass Filter 8:25 - Chorus II 9:12 - Chorus I+II 9:24 - Chorus I 9:45 - Outro #Synthesizer #Juno6 #MayaSynth #MusicProduction #MPE #SynthUpdate #PluginReview
