The small ayu fish are starting to come back to the lake due to the heavy rainfall three days ago - or so we thought. This time, we used underwater cameras to investigate the ayu run-up in the Shiotsu Okawa River and the Chouchi River, two rivers flowing into the northern part of Lake Biwa. From the underwater images, we can check the turbidity of the water the size and number of small ayu fish . In the Shiotsu-Ogawa River, there were many anglers and the ayu run was active, but in the Chonai River, the run upstream was suppressed due to the cannery fishery.
