Stavanger and Olden, Norway cruise 2026

Our Norwegian Fjords adventure has officially begun! In this first chapter of our Norway cruise, Bear Pa and Gamae’ travel from Southampton into the beautiful Norwegian Fjords, celebrate nearly 40 years together, and spend an unforgettable day exploring Stavanger, Norway. We begin aboard the ship with incredible ocean views, anniversary surprises, wonderful food, talented crew members, and enough Norwegian wind to make us question our decision to film outside after getting out of the hot tub. Then we arrive in Stavanger for a scenic drive through the Norwegian countryside. Along the way, we visit Sverd i Fjell—the famous Swords in the Rock monument—see farms, waterfalls, colorful Norwegian homes, and beautiful coastal scenery, and enjoy warm, heart-shaped Norwegian waffles overlooking Jørpeland Bay. Back aboard the ship, the adventure continues with specialty dining at Catch by Rudi, tableside fish preparation, jumbo prawns hanging from a very unusual display, steak for Bear Pa, and another dessert that probably should not be discussed in front of our daughter. Then we went to Olden. Majestic, elegant, picture perfect. We experienced Briksdalsbreen (the Briksdal Glacier), and the Loen Skylift which is located in the nearby village of Loen, just a 10-minute drive or shuttle ride from the port of Olden, and climbs 1,011 meters (3,317 feet) up Mount Hoven. The views were spectacular! This trip is part of our journey toward our 40th wedding anniversary, and we are grateful to share it with you.
