Vandaag verdween de haast

I knew exactly where I wanted to go. But somewhere along the way, it actually didn't matter that much anymore where the route ended. Watch the entire journey here:    • Rijd mee naar het noorden   Today, Geiranger was on the schedule. Via small roads and ferries, we slowly continued towards the fjords. Along the way, the landscape changed constantly, but something else changed too. The first few days of a trip often feel different to me than the rest. You are still preoccupied with distances, destinations, and everything that still needs to be done. Today, for the first time, I noticed that this restlessness slowly disappeared. The alarm clock became less important, the planning pushed into the background, and along the way, there was room again to just see where the day took us. Via Geiranger, Dalsnibba, and roads where the snow still lay meters high along the side, it became one of those days when you are less and less focused on arriving. Sometimes it is precisely those moments without haste that linger the longest. At the end of the day, I look out over the water and realize that I actually don't need to be anywhere anymore. Just a small keyboard and writing while the rain tapped against the roof. Many of those loose notes, ideas, and observations eventually find their way into the book I am currently working on.
