The first in a three-part series on The Blue Flame rocket car, driven by Gary Gabelich in 1970 to a new land speed record. In this episode we take a look at the X-1 rocket dragster that preceded The Blue Flame. Driven by Chuck Suba, it debuted in 1967 and was the world’s first liquid-fuel rocket car.
