Joan Gardy Artigas y Asia | La cerámica hecha arte

Son of the also sculptor and ceramist Josep Llorens Artigas, Joan Gardy Artigas (Boulogne-Billancourt, 1938) grew up in Catalonia surrounded by artists: his father was a close friend of Miró and Picasso, whose arm he even tattooed with a geometric drawing. Like his father thirty years earlier, he opened his own studio in Paris, where he worked alongside Braque, Chagall and Giacometti. His interest in ceramics takes him to Japan, the cradle of pottery, where each region has its own style. In 1989 he set up a foundation in Gallifa in memory of his father, from whom he learned to "draw inspiration from the East without becoming oriental.
