Mathieu van der Poel is a Dutch cyclist, who has become one of cycling's most exciting riders. He is a five-time Cyclocross World Champion, a former European Mountain Bike Champion and the current Road World Champion. Van der Poel is a prime example of genetics playing a role in sport: his father Adrie is a former Cyclocross World Champion and his grandfather Raymond Poulidor was an eight-time podium finisher at the Tour de France.
