How Marvel Accidentally Ruined One Of Its Best Villains
One of the MCU’s greatest strengths has always been its ability to take obscure characters from the depths of Marvel Comics and turn them into household names. Heroes like the Guardians of the Galaxy, Ant-Man, and even Iron Man once felt like B-list characters compared to icons like Captain America and The Hulk. That same opportunity extended to MCU villains as well. And no character represents that untapped potential more than Ultron. While Ultron may not be Marvel Comics’ most iconic villain on paper, he arguably had more long-term potential than almost any MCU villain after Thanos. He’s a conceptually fascinating antagonist with clear motivation, philosophical depth, and the ability to evolve over time. On paper, Ultron should have been an all-time great. So why didn’t it work?
