Fluid Mechanics Lesson Series - Lesson 03E: Rigid-Body Acceleration In this 12-minute video, Professor Cimbala examines liquids that are accelerated as a solid or rigid body. Such acceleration leads to tilting of the surface of the liquid and an associated tilt in the isobars (surfaces of constant pressure). The example in the video illustrates how to use trigonometry to calculate surface tilt and pressures throughout a container in rigid-body acceleration. This video incorporates material from Section 3-7 of the Fluid Mechanics textbook by Cengel and Cimbala.
