In 1285, an attack by Granadan troops forced the Templars charged with guarding the Castellar de Bullas, a fortress that protected the town from the Saracens, to retreat. The Order's lack of resistance provoked the wrath of King Sancho IV, who revoked all of the Templars' holdings in the bailiwick of Caravaca. In addition to its history, Bullas boasts a legend that places the Holy Grail in a district known as the Copa de Bullas.
