De ideale hersen-workout met Erik Scherder
People in the Netherlands are living longer and longer. The number of people reaching the age of 100 in the next 20 years will even quadruple. That sounds great, right? Unfortunately, growing older also comes with challenges, such as dementia. This is currently the fastest growing cause of death in our country. Although we cannot prevent dementia, there is also good news: there are things you can do to reduce the risk of dementia. Great, right! But start when you are young: Because even though dementia seems like a distant memory for many of us, the younger you start investing in your brain, the more you will benefit from it later. How should we do it? Neuropsychologist Erik Scherder (Open University and Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam) takes our editor Eliane with him and shows what the ideal day is for your brain.
