Beekeeping: Swarm Prevention On My Strongest Colony
Last time this colony had bees clustering heavily on the outside of the hive. I called it bearding, but I wasn't completely sure. In this video I go back in to find out what is really going on. The population is enormous, the honey supers are packed, and swarm prevention is still the priority. I go through the top brood box frame by frame, shaking bees to make sure I do not miss any queen cells. This colony has three full supers on and I talk through whether it is time to add a fourth. 🐝 I'm Derrik and I keep six backyard hives, documenting the journey here on Gram's Garden.
