Countryside Village Ambience in Seoul, 'Ant Village' | 4K KOREA | Feb.2023

Ant(Korean='Gaemi') Village is a hillside village located along the hiking trail of Inwangsan Mountain in Hongje-dong. From Exit 1 of Hongje Station, take the village bus No. 7 and get off at the last stop. It is the only means of transportation to reach this village. Originally, this village was called Indian Town. It was first formed in 1950 during the Korean War when poor people settled here, and it was named because it resembled the Indian days. However, most of the residents here reacted unpleasantly to seeing them as Indians, and named the village Ant Village, which means a village that lives diligently like ants. Art students drew various murals on the walls of the village, and as the atmosphere of the village became filled with murals, it became known on social media and the number of visitors increased.
