Recco 2019 - Piccola Grande Italia

Located along the eastern Ligurian Riviera, within the boundaries of the Metropolitan City of Genoa, Recco unfolds at the mouth of the valley crossed by the eponymous stream. The village occupies a small inlet in the Golfo Paradiso, just west of Mount Portofino. A land of sailors, Recco was for centuries home to fishermen and skilled builders of ships, sailing vessels, and galleys, the pride of the fleet of the Republic of Genoa. Its ancient history has endured difficult times: between 1943 and 1944, the town was severely damaged by Allied bombings, which devastated the city, destroying over 90% of its original historic buildings. This was the year zero for the city that, after the war, embarked on a challenging and courageous reconstruction and rebirth.
