Renowned Hotelier Dr. Vithal Kamat in conversation with Kaushik Moulik

In conversation with Mr. Kaushik Moulik, the guest, Dr. Vithal Kamat, founder of The Orchid Hotels, is a nature lover, an artisan lover, and a role model who speaks about how he has been injected with hospitality, environment, culture, and heritage by his parents and his belief about how every industry should contribute and keep mother nature intact. These birds do not have places to live because of various reasons, like radiation and mobile phone networks. His hotel, The Orchid, itself hosts more than 600 parrots, more than 3000 sparrows, and a few squirrels. Dr. Kamat also explains the reason why he chose the name “The Orchid” for his brand and what the thought process was behind choosing it. Mr. Kaushik Moukik leads the conversation towards Dr.Kamat’s passion for antique collections, preserving them for the next generation, and showcasing Indian history and culture to the public instead of keeping them private. Dr.Kamat expresses his love for the city of Mumbai and food and how he is trying to preserve the art of food recipes that are dying through The Orchid. He is still serving the recipes of his mother and grandmother at his hotels, reminding the guests of their mothers' recipes.
