It is particularly dangerous for young plants and during dry, sunny weather. Leaf and petiole tissues damaged by it are susceptible to infection by pathogenic fungi. Dr. Michał Pniak reports that the cucumber plantation in Szarkówka was treated with the product Naturalis, which is designed to control spider mites, aphids, and whiteflies, among other pests. However, a reduced population of the leaf mite was also observed after its application. Another product used on the field cucumber plantation in Szarkówka was Prev-Am. This orange oil-based product can be used to control both pests and certain diseases. Neem-Azal T/S has proven effective in controlling aphids (or other pests with a piercing-sucking apparatus).
