The Long-Forgotten Bennett Brook Bridge
Hidden within Guildford Meadows, we find a bridge over the Bennett Brook that’s been out of service for many decades. While the land is now owned by Whiteman Park for conservation purposes (since it sits on the Gnangara water mound) previously, it was cleared in the 1930s and 40s for pastoral reasons. While most of the land's original structures have been demolished, the track to this abandoned bridge has long since overgrown. This has protected it somewhat and left an interesting example of bridge building before the 1950s. In this case, the builders literally used two tree trunks for the main supports!
