Rocío Dúrcal starred in almost twenty films between 1962 and 1977, becoming one of the most popular actresses in Spanish cinema. In 1963, she traveled to Mexico for the first time, where she discovered her true passion: Mexican ranchera music. She married Antonio Morales Junior, and they had three children: Carmen, Antonio, and Shaila. In 1975, she was arrested for participating in an actors' strike in Madrid, demonstrating her social commitment. In 1977, she decided to leave film to dedicate herself exclusively to music. Her association with Juan Gabriel, the legendary Mexican composer, was pivotal in her career. She recorded emblematic albums such as "Rocío Dúrcal Sings Juan Gabriel," featuring iconic songs like "Amor Eterno," "La Gata Bajo la Lluvia," and "Déjame Vivir." She became the third Hispanic star inducted into the Billboard Hall of Fame. She recorded approximately 30 albums over a 40-year career, selling millions of records throughout Latin America. In October 2001, she was diagnosed with uterine cancer, which she bravely battled for five years. She passed away on March 25, 2006, at the age of 61 at her home in Torrelodones, Madrid. Her ashes were divided between Spain and the Basilica of Our Lady of Guadalupe in Mexico.
